Born in San Francisco and raised on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific—where the ships steamed in and out of the Golden Gate—Adrianna naturally set her sights beyond the horizon. Growing up in that great city by the sea, she quickly developed a taste for le fruit de mer, and for fine objects from abroad—making regular visits to acclaimed retailers such as Bell’occhio and Nest, which inspire her to this day.

After completing a degree in the art of metalworking at the University of Washington, she progressed to New York, where she acquired a master’s in Food Studies at NYU. From a base in Brooklyn, she also honed her retail expertise with positions at the beloved boutique Bird and the legendary ABC Carpet and Home store.

Her next stop was Madison, Wis.; where she worked for the pioneering Underground Food Collective, and also obtained an MBA from University of Wisconsin. The idea for Flotsam&Fork was also hatched there, following several fruitful research and sourcing expeditions to France, Spain and Germany. Life then led Adrianna to Minneapolis—where she currently lives with her husband Joe, and their son Burt—and where Flotsam&Fork continues to grow and evolve.

Hailing from beautiful Reedsburg, Wisconsin—once heralded as “The Butter Capital of America”—Joe grew up steeped in all things French, thanks to his mother, who taught the language at the local high school. He completed a crash course in customer service working the front desk of various hotels in the nearby Wisconsin Dells, and earned his degree in Journalism at the University of Wisconsin, where he wrote for both the Daily Cardinal and the Wisconsin State Journal. Following a move to New York, he found work at publications such as Popular Mechanics and Esquire. More importantly, he found the love of his life, Adrianna Fie, while working a side job at a pastry shop in Park Slope. They now reside together in Minneapolis, with their young son Burt.
