The one true vessel for French cider consumption! A traditional staple in the French apple- and pear-growing regions of Brittany and Normandy. These generous, bowl-like cups have gently sloping walls and an extra wide mouth—a design intended to delicately break the bubbles of the cider, while still retaining the fizz.

The classic brown finish, known as a "salt glaze", is an age-old style associated with pottery produced southern Burgundy, the traditional center of French ceramics

Outside of France, this particular style of drinking vessel is barely known. But we know from experience: once you've tasted cider from a proper salt-glazed mug, you won't settle for anything less! (Please note these also make excellent little dessert bowls.)

Made from locally sourced sandstone clay and fired at over 1200*F for enhanced durability. These bowls are handcrafted by Manufacture de Digoin, a Burgundian ceramics concern with origins dating back to 1875. The nearly defunct operation was revitalized in 2014, and now produces both classic French pottery and contemporary designs.
